Here is the story of a gifted man for opening safes, who claims for his due after twelve years spending in jail for having kept silent.

Dom Hemingway is a British comedy whose first question we wonder is, “Where is all of this going to lead us?” The audience attention is quickly caught but the film has a paradox. It suddenly accelerates and decelerates because of some mute scenes then accelerates again. The part between London and the south of France, it is sometimes hard to know what is happening, when and why. The lines try to be fun thanks to the form but it finally lacks content.

The film is divided into two parts. The first part takes place in the South of France and is summarized in one single word: Debauchery. Money, alcohol, drugs are the central theme of this first part. No thoughts, no questioning, everything is action. Going through anything and burning life at both ends. It is perhaps a way to understand in a short time, the dissipated life of Dom Hemingway.

The second part rather deals with a Dom Hemingway as a « father » who tries to apologize and reconcile with his daughter (Emilia Clarke) who he abandoned during his years spent in jail.

Without the performance of Jude Law as a boorish man who swears every thirty seconds and built as a full mirrored wardrobe, the film would surely miss flavour. The other characters come and go, appear and disappear without a great importance that we would like to give them.
