I’ll be clear and simple: this film is crap.
Is there much more left to say? You wonder why on earth people would make such a film?
But you actually know why…to make money. Well, what did you expect? Have a good time, maybe laugh a little? Nope, you were wrong.
Taking advantage of the success of comedies based on women solidarity initiated by “Bridesmaids”, this film has no other ambitions than to “entertain” with stupid jokes (all seen in the trailer) clichés about women, men, French people, poor people, blonds, ‘independent’ women, women with big breasts and housewives. Yes ladies, choose your side because for Hollywood a strong woman is either a cold lawyer (Cameron Diaz), a totally annoying and stupid wife (Leslie Mann) or a dull bimbo (Kate Upton). In addition, they expect you to be grateful for the fact that they made a movie with an almost exclusively female cast. So thank you to scream at us “make us earn a ton of money, dumb audience! “
Add to that Nicki Minaj as part of the cast, a totally unconvincing screenplay that included a scene where the three women plays rock paper scissors to decide who is going to have sex with the wicked unfaithful husband played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Let’s talk about him for a bit. Everyone knows him as Jamie Lannister from “Game of Thrones”; great TV show, great actor. So once again, why make that movie? Let me tell you that this movie doesn’t make him look good. Dude, are you that desperate to break through in Hollywood that you’re willing to play a role that sucks so much? There’s a French expression that says “Ridicule doesn’t kill”, well it seems so because you’re still alive. And how about you Cameron? Is that so hard to get interesting roles these days? You wish better than this one for her, even if she makes you suffer 109 minutes long with that pure torture of a movie. And you Kate; it’s nice to want a movie career but you don’t always get what you want in life.
And finally, why you made that movie Nick? Nick Cassavetes, son of the legendary John and the great Gena Rowland, director of “The Notebook” with Ryan Gosling and especially of “Alpha dog”, tried comedy for the first time … And you regret it. What can you say about this scene that could be an ad for a deodorant where the three girls join up on the beach and look in a serious way to the horizon?
This is a film that seemed to have some potential with this team and the huge marketing it’s been benefiting since 3 months … but everything sucked. A bad movie made in Hollywood and they sure know how to make them. You want to have a good time? Pass your way and keep your wallet in your pocket.
